The crowd held it's collective breath as the red hot favourite Alinghi broke clear from the pack - but had she left her run too late to catch the tearaway leader Wager. The only person who was confident she would make it was Damien Oliver. He sat quietly waiting for the run and set sail for home in the straight where Alinghi put in the most amazing sprint to win easily. As the winners returned the crowd was buzzing, winning connections were ecstatic and a normally calm trainer was beside himself with joy and more than a little relief. This filly could be our next superstar.
