The fifth race
was run in pouring rain with Grand Seattle proving too good coming from last in the early
stages to swamp her rivals in the straight. Donvamore and Sportique raced closer to the
lead and fought on well to finish second and third respectively. There were a few hard
luck stories with some other runners.
