The drought may have broken judging by the day we had at Caulfield for the running of the time honoured Group 1 Futurity Stakes. It was more like a cool wet Spring day than a typical late summer day. It didn't detract from the racing spectacle however with the three-year-olds again dominating the feature event. Yell must now be considered one of the best gallopers going around as he easily won the Futurity by more than 3 lengths. Innovation Girl ran a gallant second made even more admirable by the news that she injured a bone in her leg and will now be retired to stud. Earlier in the day we saw another big upset with the Mick Price trained galloper Mr. Trickster upstaging odds-on favourite Northerly in the Victoria Gold Cup. Before that we saw a potential superstar in the form of the two-year-old Zabeel colt Subscribe put in a fantastic performance to win the Veuve Clicquot.
