Race 1 Daihatsu That's Who Handicap |
It was another beautiful sunny winter's day at Caulfield for the running of the Group 3 weight-for-age Bletchingly Stakes. After a very wet week in Melbourne, resulting in the Wednesday meeting at Flemington being abandoned, the track at Caulfield was rated heavy. The well travelled gelding Super Elegant trained on the track by Tony Vasil proved too good for his rivals. He had a good tussle with the consistent Ruby Slipper before pulling away in the final stages to win by one and a half lengths. The Melbourne Racing Club presented trophies to the winners of the 2002/2003 MRC Master Awards for Trainer & Jockey for both Caulfield and Sandown racecourses. Tony McEvoy won the trainer awards for both tracks, Greg Childs won the jockey award for Caulfield and Craig Newitt won the jockey award for Sandown.
