The weather was fine but overcast for Teac Irish Day at Flemington. A good
crowd came out to enjoy the activities on the lawn and have some fun in between watching
the races. The main event was the Listed Chester Manifold Stakes named in honour of the
outstanding racing administrator and owner. It was taken out by the smart Kiwi mare It's
Platonic who showed a great burst of speed over the concluding stages to record an
impressive victory. Earlier we saw a great win by a first starter at big odds, the
beautiful grey filly Took A Chance in the Listed Talindert Stakes. The Listed Kensington
Stakes, an open sprint down the Flemington straight, was taken out by Lontano who made it
three in a row.
