It was a perfect day at Flemington for the running of the Group 1 Lightning Stakes, the first leg of the Silver Arrow Sprint Series. A great field lined up to contest the classic sprint down the Flemington straight including Group 1 winners Rubitano, Spinning Hill and Bel Esprit. Choisir raced down the flat side of the track by himself, usually a suicidal proposition but it proved to be a masterful decision by Glen Boss. He dashed away to a huge lead and held off an incredible finishing burst from Spinning Hill who finished well ahead of the rest down the grandstand side.
