It was a beautiful autumn day for the 141 st. running of the Group 1 Australian Cup at Flemington. The hot favourite was the champion WA galloper Northerly and he did not disappoint. He was simply awesome scoring by 4 lengths eased down by Patrick Payne. He now heads to Sydney for more riches and possibly another clash with the Godolphin's Grandera in Singapore.
Earlier in the day we saw the 142 nd. running of the VRC Sires' Produce Stakes for two-year-olds. The consistent gelding Winestock proved too good and will now be aimed at the Golden Slipper.
