It was another beautiful autumn day at Flemington for the running of the Group 2 Blamey Stakes and the Listed Duke of Norfolk Stakes. The Blamey was a very even contest with horses spread right across the track over the final stages. The big gelding Walk On Air refused to give in scoring a very gutsy win. Later in the day the stayers lined up for the 3200 m trip over the Melbourne Cup course in the Duke of Norfolk. In a very strong performance the Bradley Marzato trained gelding Heguy led all the way over the "two miles" to score.
