It was a glorious summer evening at Moonee Valley with the feature event the running of the Group 2 Qantas Carlyon Stakes. The strong field consisted of four quality three-year-olds, the Group 1 winning mare Pernod and the imported entire Ice Point who hails from South America. In a good betting race the Ingham's three-year-old Yell was given the run of the race by Darren Gauci to score easily by 2 and 1/4 lengths. He is heading for the Group 1 Cadbury Guineas on February 15 at Flemington.
