There was a nice relaxed atmosphere at Sandown for the running of the
Eclipse Stakes following the often hectic pace endured by all during the Spring Carnival.
The track was in excellent order following some rain during the week providing a fair
surface for all horses. A strong wind was the only factor to be considered with horses
needing cover in the back straight. There was a good field assembled for the Eclipse with
the Tony McEvoy trained Fields Of Omagh scoring to record his fifth win on the trot this
campaign. He has now given his connections the confidence to aim as high as the Caulfield
Cup next spring.
