This turned into a match race between Ponton Flyer and St. Therese who battled for the lead early and then dashed clear from the field at the top of the straight. They fought out a very close finish with Ponton Flyer prevailing by a nose from the Kiwi filly. It was an impressive performance by Ponton Flyer to overcome her wide barrier but St. Therese is also a smart filly. The Hayes' filly Flying Spice flew home for third. The disappointing runs came from Rose Archway and Lan Kwai Fong.
