The race was taken out by the consistent Sports who had settled third but was taken to the lead by Darren Gauci at the 600 when the leaders eased. He was never headed and won easily with Black Bean second, threatening to come home over the top of him but never looking like catching him. Easy Rocking ran a respectable third. It was a great ride by Darren Gauci who showed great initiative to go to the lead when the race was there to be won.
