The feature event
resulted in a boilover with the consistent mare Piavonic proving too good for Sunline on
the day having an edge in fitness. Sunline was far from disgraced having been on the pace
for the entire race and battling on well to hold second place from the smart Falvelon who
enjoyed an easier run. Marstic and Weasel Will ran on well to finish just behind the
placegetters. The next time Sunline steps onto the track she will be far more difficult to
beat. The win of Piavonic gave Tony Noonan his first Group 1 winner as a trainer.
Celebrations were dampened slightly when the stewards gave notice that Piavonic must
behave well in a barrier trial before she is allowed to race again after her "unruly
behaviour" at the barrier before the start.
