On settling,
Sunline was sitting third back on the fence in a perfect position behind the leaders Walk
On Ice and Brave Chief. Northerly was three lengths back on the rails and going well. As
they went past the 600m Sunline strode to the lead and set up a nice break leaving the
rest struggling including Northerly. It looked like another a big win for the champ but
Northerly was beginning to get going again in the straight. The West Australian dug deep
and hauled in the Kiwi mare in the last 50m to score by a long head. Sir Clive was 5
lengths back in third place.
