The big race was run at a
relatively slow pace early which didn't suit some runners and it became a sprint home from
the 600m. This resulted in the consistent Russell Cameron trained Bomber Bill ridden by
Steven Arnold sprinting way from his rivals at the top of the straight to score a great
win for his owner. The Lee Freedman colt Scenic Warrior was not suited by the slow pace
and fought on well to run second. Nina Haraka flashed home for third to record a
successful comeback having not raced since the Spring of 1999. The filly So Gorgeous was
unlucky copping a check at about the 600m when the race was just getting serious. Although
not playing up at the start Miss Pennymoney was very disappointing.
