This Listed event has a long history dating back more than one hundred
years. The consistent Prince Benbara scored his second win in a row to stake his claims
for some of the upcoming Spring spoils. He was given the run of the race by Brett Prebble
sitting just off the pace before gaining a run in the straight and holding off all
challengers. Specular held on well for second with Madame Plume running on for third and
looking the winner but fading in the last bit.
