A good quality field of sprinters contested this event with the Sydney
gelding Defier scoring well after having a nice run and getting out in the straight to
dash clear for an easy win. It was a good pick-me-up for his trainer Guy Walter who has
announced that his star galloper Tie The Knot will be spelled until the autumn. Lord Essex
came in second with Inspire third.
