In only his second start over the jumps, Zabeel's Pride proved too good for his rivals showing a good turn of foot over the last 200 metres to dash clear for a great win. It was a patient ride by Craig Durden who positioned Zabeel's Pride third on the fence for most of the 2800 metre journey and did not panic when others came around them and challenged for the lead at the 400. He waited until the second last fence then took the run between horses and put a space between himself and his rivals. He jumped the last fence clear of the others and went away for an easy win giving master jumps trainer Jim Houlahan another string to his bow.
