This race had genuine pace which suited the backmarkers and favoured Sedation who may have fortuitously missed the start as he then settled midfield with cover. Damien Oliver waited for a rails run which finally came and he dashed clear in the final 200 metres for a good win. Charlie Chops looked set to win but had to settle for second and Rancho Spark held on well for third after setting the early pace. The win gave Damien Oliver four winners for the day with three of the horses (Toledo, Ponton Flyer and Sedation) having not won for long periods despite having above average abilities.
