There was a reasonable pace set in this staying event named in honour of the great jockey Roy Higgins. At the top of the straight it looked set to be a battle between the on-pacers Voile D'Or(second) and Western Outlaw(third) but Brett Prebble went straight past them on the favourite Ascot Road to win easily by 1 3/4 lengths. There should be more wins in store for him.
