The Hayes' stable presented North Boy for his first start, a smart 2yo with impressive bloodlines being a full brother to Northern Song and a half-brother to Northerly. In a field of only four runners he was far too good for his rivals winning by 2 1/4 lengths. The filly Betula fought on well for second after leading most of the race and should win soon. Archbishop came in a distant third and the favourite American Oak was very disappointing.
