The three year
old fillies lined up for this race and a quality field included the well performed Miss
Power Bird and Calming, and a very interesting first starter from the McEvoy/Hayes stable
Princesa, a Danehill filly out of the stakes winning mare Kapchat. The field crossed to
the grandstand side and there was pace aplenty. Most of the field was found wanting at the
300 with Princesa and Aragonce coming away from the others to fight out a very close
finish with Princesa previling by the barest of margins. It was a great tonic for the
grieving Hayes' camp. Miss Power Bird looked a chance at the 300 but weakened for third.
