A patient ride by Patrick Payne resulted in a win for the consistent colt Spectatorial who travelled wide throughout to score with great authority. He clearly has a great future and has headed north to contest the Golden Slipper at Rosehill. Tuscanos battled on well for second with Valkyrian third. Some runners had no luck especially the full brother to VRC Derby winner Blackfriars, Champion of Danes who was mentioned three times in the stewards report.
