Boy Blue led into the straight after setting a good pace in the race but weakened to finish fourth and setting up the race for the backmarkers again. Damien Oliver had to go five wide on the winner Logical Reason and he was too good but the unlucky runner was the fast finishing Melody Prince who was held up for a run at the home turn and flashed home for second. Third horse Judge's Chamber was back with Melody Prince at the back of the field on the home turn and also finished well.
