With no pace on early, Damien Oliver took the initiative and led on Mr. Murphy and controlled the race from the outset. He stacked them up coming to the home turn then sprinted away on Mr. Murphy to win easily in a very impressive performance by jockey and horse. Diamond Dane ran well for second after brushing the rail on the home turn. Fubu was not disgraced in third place.
