| In a small field
the favourite was the well bred and first start winner North Boy but it seemed obvious
that he didn't relish the slow track and was struggling at the 600m when the pressure came
on. To his credit he kept trying and finally got going over the last 150m to haul in the
leader Jet Star with the unlucky Deprave coming home well for third after being held up
for a run on the home turn. It was a brave win by North Boy who obviously has great
courage as well as considerable ability. The new trainer for Lindsay Park, Tony McEvoy
will be planning for bigger and better things for this smart two year old.
