A good quality
field of 2 year old fillies contested this event and a close finish was always on the
cards. The Lee Freedman trained filly Balbina was victorious thanks to another great ride
from Damien Oliver who waited for the run to come and took her past How About That to win
narrowly by a long head. The kiwi filly Damaschino ran well for third just a short 1/2
head away and the favourite Common Smytzer was fourth.
