All Courage led from the outset, which allowed Damien Oliver to control the race. A slow pace early enabled All Courage to skip away on the turn to set up a winning break. Whim Wham (third) tried to chase and Valkyrian came from the rear of the field to fail by just a short half head. The regally bred Champion of Danes was unlucky, being blocked for a run in the home straight.
