This event is
named in honour of the great mare who raced in the '40s winning the 1942 Caulfield Cup and
two Cox Plates in 1942 and 1944. A high class field was turned out with the Leon Corstens
trained Haste Ye Back winning ridden by Brett Prebble. Her more fancied stablemate Malagra
Miss came in second with the fast finishing Special Grange third, proving her last start
win at the 'Valley was just as good as it looked.
