There was a
tremendous field assembled for this event and with 100m to go it was anybody's race as
they spread across the track. Damien Oliver was again the difference getting the most out
of Mr. Murphy to win narrowly from Fubu with the honest stalwart Umrum in third. It was
another great ride from Damien Oliver overcoming a wide barrier and bringing his tally to
five wins in this race, the first being on Submariner back in 1990 which also happened to
be his first Group 1 success.
